PumpTrackSYR is a grassroots, volunteer-driven, community project.

Phase 1 is done!
Fall of 2022 – volunteers completed the initial track, ridable by bicycle, built of material specifically selected to function as a good base for asphalt or concrete.
The grand opening event was wonderful, and we look forward to the 2023 season as the park and community continues to grow.

Phase 2 is next…
We are excited to have made it this far, and while we have learned that good things take time – we have also learned that we need to take every opportunity to say we need (your) help raising funds! The sooner we raise the money, the sooner we can cap the surface enabling skateboards, roller skates and scooters to join the fun too!

2026 update – Phase 2 is delayed — HELP SAVE AND PAVE THE PUMP TRACK
For years we did big annual community clean ups with DIY maintenance in between.
We have been waiting for dust to settle on big parcel changes with the Art Park and the City.
Now we need to rework and pave the track ASAP as the original material is too maintenance intensive to expect volunteers to keep up on.
The city seems to think the pump track is dead and is trying to bull doze it for a new private gated parking lot to store police cars.
They originally said it was going to be a temporary lot, but the recently released plans are intense and not in line with the community vision for the pump track, the art park, or the broader arts district.
5:30pm Wednesday 10/21/2026 there is a special meeting at common council to discuss this. Please come out to voice your support or email CityClerk@syr.gov to share your perspective of why a public pump track is better for the community than another private gated parking lot.
